Heart transplant patients but not liver transplant patients have reduced frontal cerebral flow, but this abnormality is not related to use of the immunosuppressant cyclosporin, say Italian researchers.
To evaluate cerebral function in heart and liver transplant patients and to assess whether cyclosporine therapy was responsible for cerebral abnormalities after transplantation, the researchers from University of Padua and Udine Hospital enrolled six heart transplant patients, eight liver transplant patients, and 10 age-matched healthy controls.
