Pregnant women with depressive symptoms appear to be at increased risk for preterm delivery, according to a new report.
In a study of 1399 low-income African-American women attending four medical clinics in Baltimore, investigators found an increased risk of delivery before 37 weeks gestation among women who were depressed. Nearly 13% of women with depressive symptoms delivered early, compared with 8% of women who did not have symptoms.
