A new hip replacement surgical procedure using a highly accurate no-navigation technique and a 5-cm incision instead of the usual 25- to 30-cm incision, was introduced in Melbourne this week at the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s Annual Scientific Meeting.
The procedure was developed by Drs. Eugene Sherry and Michael Egan of the Sydney Private Hospital. Dr. Sherry told Reuters Health on Thursday that the procedure is set to revolutionize the way hip replacement is performed.
