Genzyme has filed for centralised EC approval of colesevelam hydrochloride (Cholestagel) a new bile acid sequestrant for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolaemia.
The filing includes its use in both monotherapy and in combination with statins. It is expected that approval will be granted by the end of 2003.
