Patients with bronchial asthma or atopic dermatitis who are sensitised to house dust mite demonstrate a high prevalence of nasal symptoms.
Dutch researchers suggest the presence of nasal disease should be examined in these patients, even though the majority experience mild to moderate symptoms.
They point out that allergic rhinitis, asthma and atopic dermatitis are closely associated. Little is known, however, about the association between rhinitis and atopic dermatitis or the severity of concomitant rhinitis.
