Children treated for coarctation of the aorta may be at high risk for hypertension during childhood.
J. J. O’Sullivan and colleagues at Freeman Hospital and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, in England, studied a large cohort of patients born between 1983 and 1992, who had a coarctation of the aorta repaired early in childhood.
The researchers reported finding a “disappointingly high prevalence of hypertension” among the children aged seven to 16 years, in the absence of any significant arch obstruction
