Four cycles of vinblastine, doxorubicin, methotrexate and prednisone (VAMP) chemotherapy plus low-dose, involved-field radiation cures most children with stage I and II favorable Hodgkin’s disease, researchers report.
“Children with localized and favorable Hodgkin’s disease have a very high likelihood of surviving their Hodgkin’s disease, free of short-term or long-term toxicity or morbidity,” Dr. Sarah S. Donaldson from Stanford University School of Medicine, California, told Reuters Health.
Dr. Donaldson and colleagues treated 110 children with clinical stage I and II nonbulky Hodgkin’s disease with four cycles of VAMP chemotherapy.
