Injury Assessment and Planned Treatment Strategy are Crucial in Multiple-Injury Patients

The key to optimal orthopaedic management of skeletal trauma patients with multiple injuries involves both accurate evaluation of injury severity and a treatment plan that takes the goals of therapy into consideration, according to a Japanese retrospective study.

Dr K. Yokoyama and colleagues from the department of orthopaedic surgery, School of Medicine, Kitasato University, Kanagawa, Japan performed a retrospective review of 229 patients treated at a level 1 Japanese hospital. All patients had suffered multiple-traumas that included orthopaedic injuries.
