July 26, 2002 Prescribed graded aerobic exercise significantly reduced fibromyalgia symptoms, according to the results of a controlled, parallel group trial reported in the July 27 issue of the British Medical Journal. The improvement was better than that seen with relaxation/flexibility training and was enough in some patients that they no longer met criteria for fibromyalgia.
“Prescribed graded aerobic exercise is a simple, cheap, effective and potentially widely available treatment for people with fibromyalgia,” write Selwyn C.M. Richards and David L. Scott from Poole Hospital in Dorset, England
