Salbutamol Via Mouthpiece May Have Edge in Pediatric Asthma Emergencies

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 23 –

Using a mouthpiece to supply nebulized salbutamol (albuterol) appears to achieve better results in children with asthma exacerbation than does delivery of the agent via a facemask, according to Japanese researchers.

 Dr. Masaru Kishida and colleagues at Toho University School of Medicine in Tokyo note that in such patients “few comparative studies have investigated the most effective treatment strategy during an actual asthma attack.”
