לא מפתיע ,אבל: Long Work Hours, Insufficient Sleep Linked to Myocardial Infarction

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 10 – Men who frequently work long hours or get little sleep are twice as likely as other men to experience a non-fatal myocardial infarction, Japanese researchers report.

The researchers, led by Dr. Ying Liu, from the National Cancer Center in Tokyo, conducted a study to investigate whether a link exists between lack of sleep, overtime work and myocardial infarction. The study’s findings are published in the July issue of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

The researchers analyzed data from 260 men, 40 to 79 years of age, had experienced a non-fatal myocardial infarction between 1996 and 1998. The men were matched by age and residence to a control group of 445 men who had not experienced a myocardial infarction.
