SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters Health) May 23 –
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) appears to increase a woman’s risk of gallstones, British researchers reported here Wednesday at the 103rd annual meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association.
The findings come from an analysis of data on more than 13,000 middle-aged women evaluated as part of the European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer in 1993 and
followed an average of three years. Fifty-eight of those women developed gallstones.
