Asthma is often missed in high school athletes, according to a new study, but a running-based test appears to be an effective method of screening such athletes.
Over a period of more than 18 months, Dr. Jack M. Becker, of MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine, Philadelphia, and colleagues screened a total of 801 student athletes for asthma. The findings were reported in the April issue of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
