Calcium Channel Blockers Have No Adverse Effects on Sympathetic Nerve Activity

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 01 – The phenylalkylamine calcium antagonist verapamil and the dihydropyridine calcium antagonists amlodipine and nifedipine do not alter muscle sympathetic nerve activity in hypertensive patients, according to Swiss researchers.
Dr. Georg Noll of University Hospital, Zurich, and colleagues determined whether, as has been suggested, the different classes of agents have different and possibly harmful effects on such activity.
