LONDON (Reuters Health) Apr 15 – Colorectal cancer is associated with an increased risk for developing primary cancers at other sites, particularly in the small intestine, and among women, reproductive cancers. This increased risk may be genetically based, UK researchers report in the May issue of Gut.
Dr. Helen S. Evans and colleagues, from King's College, London, collected data on 127,281 colorectal cancer patients listed in the Thames Cancer Registry database. These patients had been diagnosed with a first colorectal cancer between January 1, 1961 and December 31, 1995.
