NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 04 – In healthy young men, a single high-fat meal increases triglycerides and reduces coronary flow reserve, Japanese researchers report. They say this effect may be clinically important in patients with coronary heart disease.
Dr. Takeshi Hozumi, from Osaka City University Medical School, Japan, and associates used transthoracic Doppler echocardiography to measure coronary flow reserve in 15 healthy men, mean 29 years of age. Coronary flow reserve was defined as the ratio of diastolic velocity in the left anterior descending coronary artery during peak flow response to IV adenosine to that recorded at baseline.
