Men with Chlamydia trachomatis infection appear to have a reduced risk of prostate cancer, according to findings presented here Saturday at the 42nd annual meeting of the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
“I’d think infection would increase the risk of prostate cancer,” study author Dr. Tarja Anttila, from the National Public Health Institute in Oulu, Finland, said. “I can’t explain the reason.”
