NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jan 20 – Carbon beam radiotherapy does not result in severe loss of pulmonary function when used to treat stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), study results suggest.
“The effects of heavy-ion beams on pulmonary function in lung cancer patients have not been examined previously,” Japanese researchers led by Dr. Kennosuke Kadono of the University of Tsukuba note in the December issue of the journal Chest.
