Children do not show decelerated growth with use of nasal steroids for allergic rhinitis, suggest findings from a year-long trial presented here this week at the meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
The children, average age of 6 years, received placebo or once-daily 200 mcg fluticasone, a steroid with limited systemic absorption, according to Dr. Eli Meltzer of the University of California, San Diego, and colleagues. A total of 150 children received at least one dose of the study drug.
