An overwhelming majority of allergists in a new poll say requiring physicians to seek prior approval to obtain coverage for certain prescriptions places asthma patients’ lives at risk.
Nine out of 10 primary care physicians (92%) agreed that prior authorization is “a bad policy” because “it takes the decision of what is the most appropriate medication for a patient in an emergency situation out of the hands of their physician.”
