Results of a small, open-label study suggest that the arthritis drug etanercept may be an effective treatment option for patients with chronic severe asthma.
But the study lacked a control group, which left many wondering if the beneficial effect might simply be a placebo effect. The study was presented here at CHEST 2002, the 68th annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians.
