Regular use of inhaled corticosteroids is associated with a reduction in the number of hospital admissions for asthma, early in the course of the disease and later on, according to a report published in the October issue of Thorax.
Previous reports have shown that regular steroid treatment is useful for preventing asthma-related hospitalizations in the short-term, the authors note, but it was unclear if this benefit was sustained over time
