A ban on tobacco advertising in The Netherlands will begin to come into effect from November this year as the country implements an European anti-smoking directive, the Ministry of Health said.
The Dutch Senate, or Eerste Kamer, had passed a law in April that adopted the EU rules, but its activation will take place in several stages according to a calendar defined by the ministry on Thursday.
All non-print advertising and event sponsorship will be prohibited as from November 7, the ministry said.
