WASHINGTON (Reuters) Jul 02 – US regulators ruled on Tuesday that a bottled water with nicotine added is an unapproved drug designed to help smokers quit and cannot be legally sold without federal clearance.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it would notify the maker of a beverage called Nico Water that it cannot sell the product unless the agency approves it as safe and effective.
The FDA was responding to a petition from anti-smoking and health groups that had voiced concern about the safety of nicotine water promoted on the Internet.
