Insulin pump therapy is an effective alternative for type 1 diabetic children, according to a report in the October issue of The Journal of Pediatrics.
Dr. Michael Freemark and colleagues from Duke University Medical School, Durham, North Carolina, examined whether insulin pump therapy could be safely and effectively used to achieve glycemic control in young children.
After a mean of 13.7 months of therapy with multiple daily injections, nine type 1 diabetic toddlers were treated with insulin pumps for a mean of 12.7 months.
