Mild cognitive impairment is present in migraine patients early in life, suggesting that the headache disorder is associated with atypical neurodevelopment in utero or during infancy, according to a recent report.
Previous studies have yielded conflicting evidence regarding a link between migraines and cognitive dysfunction, Dr. Karen E. Waldie, from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and colleagues note in the September 24th issue of Neurology. However, many of these studies had methodologic limitations that may have influenced the results.
