NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Sept 30 –
In children with atopic/eczema dermatitis syndrome (AEDS), the amount of circulating interleukin 16 (IL-16) appears to correlate with disease activity, according to a report published in the September issue of Allergy.
Recent reports have shown that the expression of IL-16 in AEDS skin lesions is associated with the influx CD4+ T cells. Still, it was unclear how well circulating levels of this cytokine and other intercellular messengers correlate with disease activity.
