More than half of all neuropathies among children under 14 years of age are treatable, the rest being preventable genetic diseases.
Acute Guillian-Bare syndrome heads the list of the most common of all the acquired neuropathies in this age group, suggest the findings of a study of the profile, pattern, clinical features and management of childhood neuropathies by researchers at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Al Khod, Oman.
Examining for evidence of peripheral neuropathy, researchers evaluated children with acute flaccid paralysis, long longstanding weakness of extremities and neuroregression, as well as some on anti cancer drugs with symptoms suggestive of neuropathy.
