FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters Health) Apr 15 – A new law that requires German doctors to file reports when patients experience complications from vaccinations has resulted in 236 notifications from Jan. 1, 2001–the day the law took effect–through Oct. 19, 2001, according to a study by Paul Ehrlich Institute, which has marketing authority of vaccines in Germany.
Of the 236 notifications, two included deaths and nine reported "lasting health damages." The study noted that because the law was new last year some doctors had likely failed to report vaccine complications, which were defined by World Health Organization guidelines.
