Older women who experience rapid hip bone loss are more likely to develop cognitive decline than their peers with slower rates of loss, according to a report published in the January issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
Furthermore, the association is independent of baseline bone mass and is not explained by the apolipoprotein E (ApoE) genotype, lead author Li-Yung Lui, from the University of California at San Francisco, and colleagues note.
