NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 04 – Results of a meta-analysis confirm previous findings that women undergoing fluorouracil (5-FU)-based chemotherapy at standard doses for colorectal cancer, experience toxicity more frequently and more severely than men.
"Initially this finding, in one trial, was a surprise, but as we looked at other trials we found that this effect was consistent," Dr. Jeff A. Sloan from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, commented in an interview with Reuters Health.
