The risk of bleeding complications in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients with renal insufficiency is lower with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) than with unfractionated heparin (UFH), investigators say.
Dr. Dietrich Gulba with Krankenhaus Duren in Duren, Germany, and colleagues compared the risk of major bleeding in patients with normal renal function or renal insufficiency who were treated with UFH or LMWH. The results were presented at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association (AHA).
