Metabolic acidosis following kidney transplantation is in part induced by downregulation of mineralocorticoid receptor expression.
Peter J. Heering, MD, and colleagues from the University of Cologne, in Solingen, Germany, compared the level of expression of mineralocorticoids in peripheral leukocytes of renal transplant patients taking cyclosporine and healthy controls. They presented results here November 3 at the 35th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Nephrology.
