Not all exercise is equally beneficial for hypertensive patients, Japanese researchers reported here September 29 at the American Heart Association’s 56th Annual Fall Conference and Scientific Sessions of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research.
While moderate intensity aerobic exercise augments endothelium-dependent vasodilation in humans through the increased nitric oxide production, high intensity exercise increases oxidative stress.
