Patients with type 2 diabetes who undergo a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) require careful monitoring of specific risk factors that may lead to major adverse cardiac event (MACE).
Thirty-four percent of type 2 diabetic patients experience a major adverse cardiac event (MACE) within six to 28 months after a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). New research identified predictors for MACE after a PCI in diabetics patients. These are insulin therapy, high levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and multivessel a PCI.
