WASHINGTON (Reuters Health) Apr 12 -The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) may soon approve Merck & Company Inc.'s Cozaar (losartan potassium) for the treatment of kidney disease in type 2 diabetics.
The FDA's Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee voted on Friday 8 to 3 to back the drug's supplementary approval based upon a single study, showing that it helped reduce two known indicators of kidney damage and events associated with the loss of kidney function.
