Amniocentesis Not Warranted In Isolated Choroid Plexus Cyst In Young Women

There is no evidence isolated choroid plexus cyst in women less than 35 years of age increases risk of trisomy 18, reports a United States study.

Nevertheless, urge Dr K Demasio and colleagues, new and better methods of screening are needed for women with a low risk for trisomy 18.

 To determine incidence of this condition in young women with isolated choroid plexus cyst, researchers analysed prospective trials published between 1990 and 2000 and which reported on the total population screened during the study period, maternal age and pregnancy/neonatal outcomes.
