Measuring nuchal translucency in the early second trimester may be the best single test for fetal trisomy 21 and other chromosomal abnormalities, according to a report in the October issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
“Increased fetal nuchal translucency seems to be a well-established ultrasonographic marker for fetal aneuploidy screening,” write Carmina Comas, PhD, and colleagues from the Institut Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona, Spain.
