A combination of a hormone replacement and non-hormone replacement treatment improves bone mineral density (BMD) more than either agent alone in postmenopausal women, investigators told an audience here at the 24th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).
Dr. Susan L. Greenspan, with the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania presented findings in 373 women who were 65 years of age older and had a low bone mass. Women were randomized to one of four treatment groups following a 3-month run-in period with hormone replacement therapy.
