Socioeconomic Gap in Smoking Cessation Rates Widening

 NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 25 – About 70% of US smokers say they would like to stop smoking, but the poor and less educated seem to have a harder time achieving that goal than other groups, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Thursday. The result is a widening gap between the rich and poor, with the well-off less likely to start smoking and more likely to stop compared with those who are not as well-off.
