Long-term care facilities may be able to reduce the incidence of antibiotic-resistant infection among their residents by increasing the number of registered nurses they employ, adding hand-washing sinks and supplying antimicrobial soap, prospective study results suggest.
Dr. Mark Loeb, of Henderson General Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario and colleagues collected data from 50 nursing homes with 100 or more beds located in Canada and the US.
