In women with node-positive breast cancer, treatment with cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, and 5-fluorouracil plus vincristine and prednisone (CMFVP) leads to a significantly longer survival than treatment with L-phenylalanine mustard (L-PAM) alone, according to a report in the January 1st issue of Cancer.
Previous studies have shown that adjuvant therapy improves the outcomes of women with node-positive breast cancer who undergo surgical resection. However, it remained unclear which adjuvant therapy–CMFVP or L-PAM–was associated with better outcomes.
