Treatment with tacrolimus ointment appears to be an effective and well tolerated therapy for chronic actinic dermatitis, according to a report published in the December issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Treatment of this photosensitivity disease typically involves sun protection and corticosteroid therapy, the authors comment. While steroid therapy can be effective, long-term use of such agents has been linked to adverse skin reactions.
