Patients who are allergic to the fish parasite, Anisakis simplex, can eat fish without risking a severe allergic reaction if it has been frozen at -20 Celsius for 48 hours.
Spanish researchers do not recommend fresh fish for those with A.simplex allergy, however. Investigators from the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon in Madrid also report that long-term decreases in specific and total immunoglobin E (IgE) “may not be good markers of eventual contact with A.simplex”
