The European Commission has endorsed plans to recommend minimum quality standards for websites which provide advice on health matters, a spokesman for the EU executive said on Friday. Concerns about the quality of information provided by medical and pharmaceutical Internet sites have been growing over the last few years, as more and more consumers research maladies and cures online.
The Commission believes common EU standard would reinforce consumer protection for increasingly popular medical Web sites.
