NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 15 – Among African-American and Hispanic patients with cancer, their beliefs about opioids and communication problems with their physicians seem to be reasons why pain is undertreated, according to a report in the April 15th issue of Cancer.
Dr. Karen O. Anderson, from The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, and colleagues conducted structured interviews with 31 socioeconomically disadvantaged cancer patients. Fourteen of the patients were African American and 17 were Hispanic.
