WASHINGTON (Reuters Health) Mar 27 – Federal health officials issued new recommendations Wednesday designed to help identify as many as 16 million Americans who are at risk for type 2 diabetes but do not know it.
The guidelines create an entirely new medical diagnosis called "pre-diabetes," a term coined to describe the millions of overweight and obese people whose blood sugar indicates an elevated risk of full-blown diabetes.
