NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jun 21 –
Helicobacter pylori does not appear to be passed between couples through oral transmission, Singapore researchers report.
Dr. W. Luman and colleagues from Singapore General Hospital hypothesized that oral transmission of H. pylori between spouses may be an important route of transmission. To investigate, Dr. Luman’s group obtained gastric biopsy samples from 183 dyspeptic patients. The researchers performed PCR analysis using the uceC gene for amplification.
