High levels of long-chain triglycerides decrease the therapeutic benefit of an elemental diet for patients with active Crohn’s disease, Japanese researchers report.
Although enteral nutrition based on refined amino acids is established as a primary therapy for active Crohn’s disease, what effect dietary fat has remains unclear. Dr. Tomoyuki Tsujikawa and colleagues from Shiga University of Medical Science conducted a randomized, controlled trial to assess this effect.
