The use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), while not decreasing the 5- to 10-fold increased risk of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in patients infected with HIV, has increased the length of survival in patients with this malignancy.
Dr. Laurence Grard, of Hpital Saint-Louis in Paris, and colleagues analyzed the evolution of the characteristics and prognosis of HIV-related Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 1987. Included were 61 patients diagnosed before 1997 and 47 diagnosed later.
